NXT’s Dante Chen made his WWE main roster debut last night (March 13) during the Main Event tapings before Raw went on the air.
Chen rarely appears on NXT TV, but is a regular on NXT Level Up, where he’s referred to as the “gatekeeper” of that show since he’s often the first opponent for brand new talents making their own debuts.
For the Main Event episode that will air on Hulu this coming Thursday, Chen lost out in his match against Cedric Alexander.
Also taped for Main Event was Akira Tozawa scoring a win over NXT’s Trick Williams, although this wasn’t Williams’ first match on Main Event.
It’s become a weekly occurrence (with rare exceptions) that Main Event will feature NXT talents, and it’s not a sign that a call-up is imminent, just a chance for WWE management to get a glimpse of what they look like in a main roster setting.
