The WWE Draft has led to plenty of changes to the Raw and SmackDown rosters, but it also had a big effect on NXT.
In total, there were 18 NXT wrestlers called up to the main roster this time around, those being:
Raw: Indi Hartwell, Apollo Crews, Zoey Stark, JD McDonagh, Katana Chance, Kayden Carter, Jinder Mahal, Sanga, Veer, and Odyssey Jones
SmackDown: Alba Fyre, Isla Dawn, Elton Prince, Kit Wilson, Cameron Grimes, and Grayson Waller
Free agents: Von Wagner and Xyon Quinn
With all those changes coming into effect next week, tonight (May 2) will start a big shakeup, as a WWE commercial for the show stated: “The WWE Draft has made its impact. Tonight, a new NXT means new opportunity. Who’s ready to seize their moment on NXT?”
The idea of a “new NXT” and such a big clearout of the roster likely means some more new faces will be popping up on the show in the coming weeks.
Featured in that very same commercial for tonight’s show is Lola Vice, real name Valerie Loureda, the highly touted former Bellator MMA fighter.
Vice has yet to make her NXT TV debut but has had several matches on Level Up recently, so tonight could be the night based on her featuring in the teaser video – or at least sometime in the near future.
Another potential debutant featured in the video was Jakara Jackson, who like Vice, hasn’t been on NXT TV but has been a regular on Level Up.
The clip of Jackson showed her with Lash Legend as they’ve formed a new tag team on Level Up recently, so it’s possible they’ll be making their way to TV together to replace the likes of Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn and Katana Chance & Kayden Carter, who are main roster bound.
Vice also teamed up with Elektra Lopez on Level Up recently, but the clip only showed Vice on her own so that may have been a one-off.
Interestingly, the teams of Fyre & Dawn and Chance & Carter are set for a match for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship tonight, despite the fact that both teams are no longer going to be in NXT.
Other matches announced for tonight are Wes Lee defending the North American Championship against Drew Gulak, and JD McDonagh’s final match on the brand as he faces Dragon Lee.
One debut that is being officially advertised for tonight is Dani Palmer, but it’s not actually her debut as she’s been on NXT TV twice before earlier this year.
