NXT has been riding the nostalgia train quite a bit this year. From In Your House to Capitol Wrestling to former WCW properties like Great America Bash. Now, another one of those will be joining the NXT lexicon. On October 28, NXT will air their Halloween Havoc special.
The event was announced during NXT Takeover 31 and will take place in just three weeks’ time. This will be the first time WWE will have aired a Halloween Havoc event since their purchase of WCW in 2001.
Prior to the sale of WCW, Halloween Havoc had been one of their trademark events. The visual of spooky ghouls and pumpkins was the signature look of the event. Hopefully, this year’s event will have a similar look. Given how WWE went out of their way to make their In Your House event look special earlier this year, it is a good bet to look forward to this show.
Finn Balor retained his NXT Championship against Kyle O’Reilly and Io Shirai retained the NXT Women’s title against Candice LeRae. It remains to be seen whether they will defend their titles at the October classic but they both have clear challengers waiting. Ridge Holland threw his name in the ring for a title shot by laying out Adam Cole and Shirai will now have both Ember Moon and Toni Storm to deal with.
