NXT Live Results: August 3 – Lakeland, Florida

Following on from their double-header live event last weekend where Aleister Black picked up an injury which required surgery, NXT were back on the road on Thursday evening entertaining in Lakeland, Florida.

The Undisputed Era, who has been the staple of these smaller house shows over the past few weeks, once again stepped up and granted the Street Profits a long awaited NXT Tag Team Championship shot in the main event of the show.

With it now confirmed that Moustache Mountain will receive their rematch for the straps at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV on August 18, there really was only one outcome. After a heated contest, the champions retained their straps and cemented their role as WWE’s VIP bloc.

With Bobby Fish close to a return, many fans are going into overdrive speculating how the dynamic will work. Some believe the Freebird rule will come into effect allowing them to choose which two will defend on whatever given night, whilst others are set on the idea of Cole, Fish, and O’Reilly turning on Strong, citing no room for him in the stable.

In results from the rest of the card:

  • The War Raiders smashed Tian Bing and Jason
  • Dan Matha rolled over Flash Morgan Webster.
  • Dakota Kai ran over Reina Gonzalez
  • Kassius Ohno punched through Mahabali Shera
  • Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano downed Taynara Conti and Adrian Jaoude
  • The Forgotten Sons and Jaxson Ryker prevailed over James Drake, Zack Gibson, and Eddie Dennis
  • Nikki Cross blasted Bianca Belair. An oversight of a result seeing as Cross will be making her main roster television debut shortly

It’s an interesting development that NXT UK stars were booked on this show, especially since an edict has been passed that they’re no longer allowed to accept indie dates a week before NXT UK tapings in order to prevent injuries.

WrestleTalk would like you to contact us with your thoughts on this card, if you attended, and NXT UK stars being brought in to replace the wealth of regular NXT stars the company already have in development. As usual, you can drop us a line on Twitter and Discord today.
