It has been announced that current NXT North American Champion Adam Cole will be defending his championship at EVOLVE 107 on June 24th.
EVOLVE also announced that the challenger for Cole’s championship will be Austrian star WALTER. WALTER is best known for his vicious chops as well as his work in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla where he is their world champion.
Walter’s most famous matches include his battles with ‘Limitless’ Kieth Lee and a Five Star match with Zack Sabre Jr.
Adam Cole became the inaugural NXT North American Champion by defeating EC3, The Velveteen Dream, Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan, and Ricochet in a ladder match at NXT Takeover: New Orleans. The match also received a Five Star rating and Cole’s only title defense has come against Oney Lorcan on NXT.
The match between Cole and WALTER marks a historic step in cooperation between WWE and EVOLVE as a WWE championship has rarely appeared outside of WWE programming, let alone be defended in another promotion’s ring. Gabe Sapolsky noted “WWE has been growing this relationship with EVOLVE for a few years. We are ecstatic that the next step is this historic match on June 24th.”
Other matches scheduled for EVOLVE 107 include Matt Riddle vs. DJZ, Chris Dickinson vs. Tracy Williams, and Darby Allin vs. Jarek 1:20. Other wrestlers scheduled for the event include Austin Theory, Jaka, AR Fox, Timothy Thatcher, Anthony Henry, Josh Briggs, and Bad Bones.
