NXT Signee In TakeOver: Brooklyn IV Crowd

Last night’s NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV pay-per-view was yet another outstanding installment into WWE‘s ever-progressing “developmental territory.” All five matches left a mark on the audience, keeping them glued to the action. As always with these shows, however, there was something else, or more accurately, someone else, grabbing our attention.

It has become a tradition for the more world-renowned NXT signees to appear in the crowd for TakeOver events before debuting. Recently, we saw the likes of Keith Lee and War Machine (now War Raiders). One year prior at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, we saw the debut of Adam Cole (BayBay) along with Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish, although they made a bit more of a splash when they arrived.

Now, we have the introduction of former MMA star and prominent indie-darling Matt Riddle. Since transitioning to the world of professional wrestling in 2014/15, as many fighters have before and after him, the ‘Super King of Bros’ has set the world of sports entertainment on fire.

He has held gold in promotions such as PWGPROGRESS, and EVOLVE as well as garnering both the Most Improved and Rookie of the Year awards by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter in 2016.

His arrival in NXT is huge for the promotion. Riddle’s unique style and charisma will surely see him dominate sooner rather than later. It is also worth noting that several of the black and yellow brand’s main male superstars such as Velveteen Dream and Aleister Black could be close to debuting on Raw or SmackDown Live. Their roles will need filling and Riddle is just the right man to do so along with Lee.
