There hadn’t been a 10-8 round in the ratings in NXT’s favour prior to this week. There sure has been now. The ratings for both shows have come in and NXT smoked AEW Dynamite big time.
Jeremy Lambert of Fightful reported the numbers on Twitter today.
AEW – 633,000 (.22, 17th)
NXT – 786,000 (.19, 26th)Thoughts?

The reported numbers are 633,000 average viewers for AEW and 786,000 average viewers for NXT.
The ratings for AEW Dynamite were way down from last week. Last week’s show had a stacked card and did 772,000 average viewers. This week’s show didn’t have one single member of The Elite wrestling and the show dropped 139,000 viewers as a result. AEW World Champion Jon Moxley was also off the show after it was revealed Renee Young had tested positive for COVID-19.
Another reason why the show could have done worse in the ratings is the programming on NXT. The show was main evented by a North American Championship match featuring Keith Lee defending against Johnny Gargano and Finn Balor. The winner of the match would advance to face Adam Cole in a winner take all match. Therefore, there was increased interest in this show.
This is the first time NXT has beaten AEW in the ratings this drastically. We will see if things changed next week when AEW airs Fyter Fest.
