It was reported by Dave Meltzer this week that WWE officials are high on both NXT Champion Adam Cole and NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler, with both being next in line for call-ups to the main roster.
This was preceded by a report that suggested there was talk backstage within WWE of having Matt Riddle and other NXT stars make their main roster debuts as part of the 50-man battle royale at WWE’s Saudi Arabia Super ShowDown event.
Whilst it was reported that Adam Cole was being groomed for a main roster call-up, there was no mention of his Undisputed Era stablemates, hinting at a potential break-up for the group,
On the topic of why his partnership with Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong works, Cole had the following to say to Sporting News.
“I’ve been close friends with these guys for years and years. We talk, literally, every day. People really seem to gravitate towards a group of guys who have the same mindset, same attitude, are passionate about this job. People love groups and they certainly have loved and attached themselves to The Undisputed Era”.
Cole then implied that he doesn’t want to split up with his friends if he moves up to Raw or Smackdown, and even hinted at not actually wanting to go to the main roster at all when saying:
“If it’s up to us, we’re not going anywhere.”
There is no word on when exactly Cole, or Baszler for that matter, might be getting their call-ups. However, the logical time would following NXT Takeover: Toronto, allowing both Adam and Shayne to drop their respective championships at the black and gold brand’s next big show.
