NXT Star Attacks Johnny Gargano During Emotional Promo

NXT Star Attacks Johnny Gargano During Emotional Promo

Johnny Gargano closed tonight’s episode of WWE NXT 2.0 by addressing his future and status with the brand going forward.

However, an out-of-nowhere conclusion saw Grayson Waller ambush Gargano from behind, and brutally lay him out before declaring that NXT doesn’t belong to Gargano anymore – it belongs to Waller now.

Much like he did at WarGames, Johnny Gargano threw it back tonight and made his entrance to his old ‘Rebel Heart’ music, and looked very emotional indeed.

Gargano opened by saying that Shawn Michaels had told him he could have as much time as he wanted to address what he had to say tonight.

He went through the history of him joining NXT after initially being turned down in 2015, and reminisced in everything he’s done on the brand throughout the past several years.

He also spoke about his self-confidence issues, and the only place he’s ever felt at home and special was in the ring.

He then named a number of backstage people – some you’d recognise and some you wouldn’t – and thanked them for everything they’d done for him and NXT.

He said his immediate future is up in the air and he still doesn’t know what he’s doing next, but he does know that he’s going to become a dad in February.

While getting emotional about the arrival of his son, the crowd rumbled and Grayson Waller launched the aforementioned viscious beatdown to close the show.

Does this mean Gargano’s staying and this was to set up a match with Waller? Does it mean he’s leaving and the attack was a way to write him off TV? These are all things we still need to find out, and it would seem even Gargano hasn’t made his mind up yet.

It had previously been reported that Gargano’s contract was set to end on December 3, but he signed a one week extension until December 10.

Reports also indicated that WWE had made him a “great offer” and was very keen to keep him with the company.

Another man whose contract is coming up is Kyle O’Reilly. Details on what went down with O’Reilly on tonight’s show can be found at this link.
