Cameron Grimes has not been seen on WWE television for three months following his defeat to Joe Gacy on NXT back on November 8.
Grimes had been written off the show following the match, with him set for a main roster call up, which has yet to take place.
Dave Meltzer noted that Grimes is currently in ‘limbo’ between NXT and the main roster, and is simply waiting until a story is written for him to make his debut.
Well, that debut could take place very soon, possibly as soon as tonight.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has reported that Grimes in at the site of tonight’s (February 24) SmackDown show.
The report didn’t state whether or not he would feature in any way on the show itself, but he is set to be in action on the pre-show dark match against Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis of Hit Row.
Grimes has been considered for a call up to the main roster for a long time, with several people on the main roster advocating for him, including one long time wrestler praising Grimes’ versatility of working a varying number of styles, sizes and television products.
It is worth noting that, while NXT stars are frequently brought to Raw to wrestle on Main Event prior to the show, it is far less frequent for an NXT star to work a SmackDown dark match.
