NXT Star To Make Amateur Kickboxing Debut Saturday

It has been confirmed that a WWE NXT star will be making their official amateur kickboxing debut this Saturday, October 24.

Xia Li of WWE’s developmental brand has a match against Anna Housel. Li will compete under her real name Zhao Xia.

The fight will be on the prelim card for the Combat Night Orlando pay-per-view. The event description reads as follows:

We are excited to bring Orlando an exclusive night of LIVE MMA entertainment. Only 200 fans will be admitted for this event in order to maintain social distancing. The capacity has been cut down to 25% to ensure everyone’s safety. We look forward to an amazing card stacked from top to bottom with the best athletes Orlando has to offer. We will be following all local and state executive orders during the event. This venue can typically hold 1,400 fans, but we have reduced it to 200 to make it a safe enjoyable experience for all. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us at Chamale@combatnight.com Thank you for supporting a local business and athletes.

Because it’s an amateur kickboxing match, both women will be wearing protection and headgear. The promoter actually said in a recent interview that he didn’t know Li was a pro-wrestler until recently but he’ll still treat her the same as the rest of the athletes.

Recently on NXT, Li has been teasing a heel turn and has formed an alliance with the recently returned Boa, but we’re yet to really see how their relationship will play out. It was hinted last week that she’ll have a match on tomorrow night’s show.
