The first night of the 2023 WWE Draft is now officially in the books, and several NXT stars are set to make their way up to the main roster.
Two of those names were the current NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, who will be a part of the SmackDown roster once the changes go into effect.
The champs appeared on Busted Open Radio, where they discussed being called up in the Draft, revealing that they had ‘no idea’ they were getting drafted.
They said:
Alba: “I’ve been saying it for days, I still don’t feel like it’s quite settled in yet. We had no idea, no idea that we were going be drafted.”
Isla: “As you could tell by our eyeballs going [opening wide].”
Alba: “But it means so much. We’ve both worked really, really hard for this for a long time. Getting things like this, you know you’re being appreciated. It just means the world.”
Isla: “The timing of it, with Stand & Deliver being a month ago and that was our second TV tag match. We’ve only been together a short time.”
The other NXT stars called up on night one of the Draft were JD McDonagh, Zoey Stark, Apollo Crews and NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell going to Raw, and Von Wagner becoming a free agent.
Alba and Isla will have their final match as a member of NXT this Tuesday, when they defend the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship against Katana Chance and Kayden Carter.
