Four of NXT’s top stars worked dark matches prior to last night’s (January 28) episode of SmackDown in Kansas City.
The first match saw former NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai defeat Dakota Kai, which was Io’s first main roster branded match since Survivor Series 2019.
The second match was between two men familiar with main roster dark matches in recent weeks, as former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa bested Roderick Strong.
LA Knight was also backstage at last night’s show, but was not booked. He is reportedly slated for a main roster spot in the Spring.
