Report: NXT Talent ‘Blamed’ John Laurinaitis For Encouraging Women To Dress ‘Sexier’

Report: NXT Talent ‘Blamed’ John Laurinaitis For Encouraging Women To Dress ‘Sexier’ WWE

NXT talent reportedly had meetings with a fashion consultant to help them maximize their star power with the implication to dress sexier.

On the heels of Athena (formerly known as Ember Moon) making comments regarding a meeting where she felt the NXT women’s roster was being encouraged to dress more like Mandy Rose more details have emerged including who the roster has pointed the finger at regarding the change in direction.

According to a report from Fightful Select, there were rumblings about these meetings several months ago but now talent has come forward saying that there were NXT meetings “under the guise of ‘fashion consulting’ and ‘fashion aid’ to play up the fact that the women on the brand were larger than life stars.”

This seemed like a stark contrast to the past direction which was wearing their ring gear or WWE merchandise that was available, a change that seemed to begin after Triple H had left NXT.

The report notes that WWE brought in Melanie Pace, a fashion expert, to conduct the meetings in October 2021.

Some talent reportedly expressed displeasure that these meetings took place with several “pointing the finger” at John Laurinaitis as the change seemed to start as he gained more power backstage at NXT. However, despite the “blame” being put on Laurinaitis, his involvement in the actual decision-making is not confirmed.

Several women on the roster reportedly refused to attend the meetings and while talent reported the edict to “dress sexier” was not delivered outright, it was implied.

While their attire may be shifting, the women of the NXT roster continue to excel in the ring. You can view the win/loss record of the entire NXT women’s roster here.
