NXT Television Taping SPOILERS!

In the wake of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, NXT returned to Full Sail on August 23 to record the next four weeks worth of television. These episodes will air August 29, September 5, September 12, and September 19.

From the episode to air August 29:

The main storyline of this episode was the fallout of the NXT Championship Match from NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV and Johnny Gargano’s quest for redemption. On crutches after injuring his knee at the culmination of his Last Man Standing Match with Tommaso Ciampa, Gargano delivered a dejected speech but was interrupted by NXT General Manager William Regal.

Still searching for Aleister Black’s attacker, the Brit asked Gargano if he was the culprit. He, of course, denied the allegation. This brought out the Velveteen Dream who told the former #DIY member that he was tired of hearing him whine, calling him ‘Johnny Failure’. This is Full Sail. The chant caught on. Gargano hurled the crutch at Dream and Regal made the match official for the following week.

In other results from the episode:

  • Dakota Kai best Aliyah
  • Lars Sullivan attacked EC3 backstage and then Raul Mendoza before their scheduled match
  • Keith Lee overcame Luke Menzies
  • The Undisputed Era defeated Pete Dunne and Ricochet. Adam Cole substituted for Kyle O’Reilly, pinning Dunne with the last shot for the victory. Following the bout, the entire bloc attacked both men allowing War Raiders to make the save

From the September 5 episode:

Following on from the previous week, this edition again focused on Johnny Gargano searching for some semblance of normality after failing to capture the NXT Championship. In the main of the show, he fought the Velveteen Dream in a stunning encounter which brought the venue to its feet.

Playing his part to perfection, Gargano was both intense and hesitant during the entire encounter. Unsure about a running knee, Johnny was momentarily clobbered with a rolling DVD handing Dream the win. To hammer home that a change is coming, the indie darling left the venue through the side exit and looked as if he didn’t know who he was anymore. This is going to have a spectacular payoff.

In other results from the episode:

  • Kassius Ohno went over Kona Reeves. Following the bout, Ohno cut a promo on how he’s the going to be the guy to challenge the new blood coming through. The problem with this new gimmick is that it’s almost identical to the old one. For Ohno to truly stand out, he needs a full blown heel turn and change of image
  • The Forgotten Sons best the Street Profits. During the bout, the Mighty ran in under masks and stole the cup of Montez Ford
  • Kairi Sane cracked Trish Adora. After the clash, Shayna Baszler appeared and hinted to an upcoming rematch between the pair. The pair became embroiled in a heated brawl which ended with Sane blasted her foe with a spear
