NXT title match confirmed for WWE Evolution

On last night’s episode of NXT on the WWE Network, it was confirmed that Kairi Sane will meet Shayna Baszler in an NXT Women’s Title match at Evolution.

When Stephanie McMahon announced the all-female pay-per-view she stated that women from all of WWE’s rosters would be involved, so it was a given that the NXT Women’s Title would be up for grabs on the show.

What the match would be had remained a mystery until now. However, on last night’s show following Sane’s victory over Vanessa Borne, Baszler hit the ring and invoked her rematch clause, having lost the title to Sane at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV in August.

The two women have a fairly lengthy history, having initially met in multi-women matches in Japanese group Stardom before clashing in the final of the 2017 Mae Young Classic, which was won by Sane.

The Evolution card now looks like this:

NXT Women’s Championship
Kairi Sane (c) vs. Shayna Baszler

Mae Young Classic Final

Trish Stratus vs. Alexa Bliss

Mickie James vs. Lita

It is also expected that the NXT UK Women’s Title will be on the line and that Ronda Rousey will defend the Raw Women’s Title against Nikki Bella.
