WWE is reportedly planning to add more focus onto its NXT Cruiserweight Division.
It has been reported by Fightful Select (subscription required) that there has been a plan in place to emphasize the division in NXT. They note that the plan is for NXT to integrate bigger names and angles into the division.
This reportedly started with the involvement of Kyle O’Reilly last week and will continue throughout the Summer.
The report also states that NXT Cruiserweight Champion Kushida has been very popular among officials and talent backstage. Kushida won the title in an open challenge after NXT Takeover Stand & Deliver earlier this year.
As of late, Kushida has been defending the title in a series of open challenge matches. He has faced the likes of Oney Lorcan and debuting stars Carmelo Hayes and Trey Baxter.
