NXT to undergo major international expansion

Not content with snapping up everyone who is hot on the North American independent scene and sending them to Florida for NXT, nor with jumping on the bandwagon of the red hot UK indy scene with the formation of NXT UK, WWE is looking to expand even further.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE intends to invest a significant chunk of the revenue generated from the Saudi Arabia shows and its lucrative new television deal into its developmental brand.

Plans are in place for WWE to expand internationally, opening up national Performance Centres similar to the one in Florida in locations across the world.

WWE already has plans in place for a UK Performance Centre in London and the upcoming tryouts in Germany and relationship with wXw are both strong indicators that WWE intends to do the same in that country as well in the near future.

It has been long-reported that WWE intends to expand its reach globally. The promotion launched the term “global localization” back in April and plans to venture into Japan/Asia and Mexico have been on the table for some time, dating back to the launch of WWE UK in late 2016.

The Observer reports that WWE will become even more aggressive in its recruitment strategy in order to snap up the best available talent in each market. That will ensure that anyone with potential is in the WWE system rather than heading to NJPW, ROH or Impact.
