Reports of NXT UK talent getting pulled from UK indy shows across the country have been coming in thick and fast since we broke the news earlier this week that talent would be working under new restrictions with regards to where they can work and who they can wrestle.
It seems the new directives now extend beyond wrestling matches on shows and into wrestling training sessions.
According to Dave Meltzer in The Wrestling Observer, NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint was pulled from a Full Tilt Wrestling seminar and appearance in Newcastle that was scheduled to take place on December 15.
Meltzer noted that WWE had previously approved the appearance but Saint’s new contract signed this past week no longer permits him to do seminars.
However, Full Tilt Wrestling today announced via a special video on their Facebook page that WWE have granted them special permission for Saint to appear at the event.
In the statement they said:
“Johnny Saint was supposed to appear at Full Tilt Wrestling on December 15 but due to some contract negotiations with WWE that wasn’t going to be allowed to happen. However, thanks to some amazing hard work from the management here at Full Tilt Wrestling and from the man himself, Johnny Saint will be in attendance. We have been given special permission from WWE to have him here.”
It will be interesting to see whether other promotions are granted similar dispensation prior to the new contracts coming into effect or whether this proves to be the exception to the rule.
