NXT UK Tapings – Second Night Spoilers!

NXT UK Tapings – Second Night Spoilers!

Following on from a reportedly successful first recording, NXT UK recorded their second evening of tapings last night from the Cambridge Corn Exchange in Cambridge, England. From the length of the taping, a mammoth 14 matches, it is widely believed the brand have secured at least two months worth of material already.

The biggest match of the evening was, quite rightly, the main event which saw Pete Dunne defend the NXT United Kingdom Championship against the equally brilliant Danny Burch. This bout was set up on Saturday night when Burch challenged the ‘Bruiserweight’ to a fight, stating that he was strong style before Dunne was born. An excellent collision, as if it was going to be anything else, Dunne once again retained the strap to much fan-fair brining his reigns to 436 days.

In results from the taping:

  • Killer Kelly defeated Millie McKenzie in the Dark Match. It’s a breath of fresh air to see the infectious and talented McKenzie get a shot at the big time. She’s been catching eyes on the indies, whilst her oddball partnership with Pete Dunne is a joy to behold
  • Ligero cracked ‘Wild Boar’ Mike Hitchman
  • Moustache Mountain best Sam Gradwell and Saxon Huxley
  • Isla Dawn went over Nina Samuels
  • Travis Banks was discovered backstage by NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint. He’d apparently been attacked by a mysterious assailant. The ‘Kiwi Buzzsaw’ is currently injured and has been pulled from the Progress tour of America
  • Mark Andrews upset Wolfgang. Following the clash, the Coffey Brothers attacked and even Flash Morgan Webster wasn’t enough to save the Welshman this time around. Wolfgang teased a heel turn by deciding if he wanted to help, but then swerved and joined the Coffey’s, forming a new and NXT UK’s first heel stable
  • Jordan Devlin whitewashed Tucker
  • Zack Gibson made short work of Amir Jordan. Post-match, Gibson trashed the crowd with a killer promo and was then challenged to a bout by Trent Seven. He declined the offer
  • Dave Mastiff crushed Damien Wheeler.
  • Ligero went over James Drake
  • The Coffey Brothers and Wolfgang attacked Ashton Smith as he headed out. If your writer didn’t know better, I’d say the Scots were behind the ambush of Travis Banks
  • Eddie Dennis overwhelmed Sid Scala
  • Jordan Devlin put away Kenny Williams
  • Toni Storm best Dakota Kai. After the match, Jinny attacked Kai
  • The Coffey Brothers and Wolfgang trashed Mark Andrews, Flash Morgan Webster, and Ashton Smith. WWE need to give this stable a name if they haven’t already. It’s going to get tiring calling them the Coffey Brothers and Wolfgang
  • Pete Dunne defeated Danny Burch to retain the NXT United Kingdom Championship

Though an air date is still to be confirmed, the next set of tapings occur on August 25 and August 26 at the Insomnia Gaming Festival in Birmingham, England. As they’re slated for post-NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, one would expect some details on the much hyped NXT UK Tag Team Championships.
