Toni Storm defeated the inaugural champion Rhea Ripley at NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool on January 13th 2019 to capture the belt, and will be defending against one of NXT UK’s newest female performers, Piper Niven (formerly Viper on the independent scene).

This will be a rematch from the 2018 Mae Young Classic Quater Finals, were Storm bested Niven before going on to win the whole tournament at Evolution against NXT star Io Shirai.

ICW has a good relationship with NXT UK and WWE, with the then-WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne and even Triple H appearing at one of their Cardiff shows in late 2017.

Toni Storm and Piper Viven might be joined by some top independent female stars in NXT UK as WrestleTalk is reporting that the promotion is hosting a women’s tryout at their Enfield Performance Center this week.
