Clarification has emerged on the status of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship following Cora Jade’s promo on Tuesday’s (June 19) show.
During the episode, Jade threw her title belt into the trash, after attacking her tag partner Roxanne Perez last week.
There was some uncertainty surrounding the championship, with only Jade relinquishing her gold. Some speculated that the title will be removed from TV following the episode.
As of writing, the official WWE superstar page lists the current NXT Women’s Champions as ‘Roxanne Perez, Vacant’, as you can see below:
This seems to indicate that Perez will continue her reign with the gold with a new tag partner.
Many fans commented on the similarity between the NXT belt segment and Madusa infamously throwing her WWF Women’s Championship away on WCW Nitro in 1995. Madusa has since reacted to Cora Jade’s promo.
Bayley has also reacted to the segment, teasing an NXT return.
