It has been revealed that an NXT star is currently working on a WWE main roster contract, making him the biggest earner on the brand.
While NXT is still treated as WWE’s developmental brand, more stars from Raw and SmackDown have been visiting the show in recent years.
Former Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews returned to NXT in June, and has been a regular competitor for the brand since then.
Dave Meltzer has now clarified that Apollo Crews is still performing with his previous main roster deal.
Correcting a previous story about Dragon Lee being the highest paid NXT talent, Meltzer wrote the following in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
A correction from last week regarding the Dragon Lee story. Because Lee’s contract was above usual NXT levels but not main roster level, he wouldn’t be the highest paid there since Apollo Crews has a main roster deal.
Dragon Lee announced that he was WWE-bound after winning the AAA Tag Team Championship alongside Dralistico at the December 28 Noche de Campeones event.
WWE has been touting Lee as a big acquisition, with the company reportedly looking to hire more high profile names soon.
