NXT Champion Oba Femi invoked the words of John Cena ahead of his match against Cody Rhodes at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Cena’s retirement match takes place at SNME on December 13 as he faces GUNTHER in the main event of the show.
Elsewhere on the show will be some WWE main roster vs NXT matches, a theme that Cena himself had requested.
One of those matches will see current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes face NXT Champion Oba Femi.
Opening tonight’s SmackDown, Cody Rhodes initially came out to cut a promo on Drew McIntyre who he’s had issues with for months now.
However, Femi instead made his first real main roster appearance by making his entrance and joining Rhodes in the ring.
Femi’s message to Rhodes was essentially that SNME is being billed as the present vs the future – but everyone acts like the future is far away, when in reality, the future is now.
Femi capped off that message by quoting John Cena himself, saying:
“In the spirit of Hustle, Loyalty and Respect. Your time is up and my time is now”
The other WWE vs NXT matches at SNME are Bayley vs Sol Ruca, and World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles & Dragon Lee vs Je’Von Evans & TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater.
It was confirmed earlier this week that the World Tag Team Title is on the line in that match.
