AAA’s biggest show of the year is coming up and now it seems a date has been set. While not yet confirmed by the company, TripleMania XXVIII is reportedly set for December 26.
Eric Mutter of Lucha Central is reporting the date for AAA’s biggest annual show and also that it will take place behind closed doors. No fans will be allowed to attend.
It had been previously announced by AAA that they were hoping to run the show with fans. However, Mexico City is still in code orange which would not permit fans to attend. For fans to be allowed, the city would need to drop to code yellow.
Perhaps the most newsworthy match for international fans would be the AAA Mega Championship match. Kenny Omega is set to defend his title against Laredo Kid at the show. This will mark the first time he has defended the title in Mexico since December 1, 2019. It will also be the first time he has defended the title at all since March 25 when he retained against Sammy Guevara on AEW Dynamite.
The announced matches for TripleMania XXVIII are as follows:
- AAA Mega Championship Match – Kenny Omega (c) vs. Laredo Kid
- AAA Reina de Reinas Championship Match – Taya Valkyrie vs. Lady Shani
- Hair vs. Hair Match – Chessman vs. Pagano
- Aracno vs. Leyenda Americana vs. Terror Purpura vs. Venenoide (Marvel Tie-In Match)
