‘Ongoing Conversation’ Taking Place Between WWE & Former AEW Stars

“Ongoing conversation” has been taking place between WWE and former AEW stars The Hardys according to Matt Hardy.

Since their AEW departures earlier this year speculation has been rife regarding a potential WWE return for the former eight-time WWE tag team champions.

Despite currently competing in TNA Wrestling, Matt did recently admit that he and Jeff’s hope is to retire back in WWE – the company where they made their name in the late 1990s.

As well as this, ahead of WWE SummerSlam in August, Matt and Jeff met with WWE Digital to film content for upcoming projects – adding further fuel to the fire regarding fan hopes for a Hardy Boyz return.

Despite recent comments teasing a WWE return, Matt recently stated on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast that the pair were “extremely happy” in TNA, however, were open to a return to their former home of AEW and WWE – the latter of which Matt says they have had “ongoing conversations” with.

Matt said:

“We are both very, very happy. We’re extremely happy with how TNA is going right now. We’re going to be continuing this for a while. We just actually talked about some creative stuff going through the end of this year right now. That’s very exciting. We did what we have.

“As far as going to WWE or AEW, it’s a never say never scenario in my world. In the extreme life of Matt Hardy, it’s a never say never. You never rule anything out. You never close any doors on anything. You do your best, you keep your chin up, you keep moving forward and try to speak as honestly and as transparently as possible.

“It’s one of those things. If we ended up back in AEW to do something, yea, we wouldn’t be opposed to that, especially if it is something that sounded really, really good that we were very intrigued by.

“With WWE, there’s still been some ongoing conversation with WWE, so yeah, anything can happen in the extreme life of Matt Hardy.”
