The opening match of WWE Wrestlepalooza 2025 has now been confirmed via an announcement from Pat McAfee.
The inaugural WWE Wrestlepalooza event is set to take place this Saturday, September 20 from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN, with the event being built as major addition to company’s calendar.
Not only will the event kick off WWE’s new partnership with ESPN that will see all PLEs come exclusively to ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer streaming app in the United States, but it will also host the in-ring returns of Brock Lesnar and AJ Lee.
While WWE announcer Joe Tessitore previously described Brock Lesnar’s match with John Cena as Saturday’s “main event”, it will not be going on last, as Pat McAfee announced on today’s Pat McAfee Show that Lesnar vs. Cena will actually be the opening match of Wrestlepalooza.
You can view the announcement below this news story.
It’s not yet been confirmed which match will main event Wrestlepalooza, with other confirmed bouts on the show being: CM Punk & AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch, The Usos vs. Bron Breaker & Bronson Reed, IYO SKY vs. Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship and Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Title against Drew McIntyre.
