The opening match for Sunday’s (July 30) NXT Great American Bash premium live event has now been revealed.
At the time of writing, six matches have been confirmed for the main show, and we now know which bout will open the card.
WWE has now confirmed that the NXT Tag Team Championship match will be the first contest of the main show.
Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo are set to challenge Mark Coffey and Wolfgang of Gallus for the gold.
Confirming that this bout will kick off the main show, WWE NXT shared the following on Saturday night:
#Gallus vs. #TheFamily for the #WWENXT Tag Team Titles will kick off #NXTGAB TOMORROW NIGHT, live in Austin, TX!
You can view the entire tweet below.
This comes after it was revealed that Gallus played a role in D’Angelo’s previous imprisonment.
WWE previously shared the following preview for the match:
Wolfgang and Mark Coffey are set to defend the NXT Tag Team Championships against Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo of The Family in what has become nothing short a bitter grudge match.
Gallus has all but cleaned out the NXT tag team division, but D’Angelo and Stacks were building momentum until legal issues caught up with The Don of NXT.
As it turns out, Gallus were the masterminds behind D’Angelo’s imprisonment, but thanks to some crafty undercover work from Stacks, The Don is free, and the duo is ready for their opportunity at NXT gold.
The show will be headlined by Carmelo Hayes defending the NXT Championship against Ilja Dragunov.
The very first match tonight will actually be an eight-person tag with the Meta-Four vs Nathan Frazer, Dragon Lee, Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon, but that will be on the pre-show rather than the main show.
Other title matches have also been announced for the show, including an NXT Women’s Title match with Thea Hail challenging Tiffany Stratton in a submission match, as well as Dominik Mysterio defending the NXT North American Championship in a three-way against Mustafa Ali and Wes Lee.
