A popular AEW star has defended his championship at the NJPW Collision In Philadelphia event.
Orange Cassidy has had a historic run as AEW International Champion with 18 successful defenses coming into April 16 since winning the title in October.
The long, grueling reign has taken its toll on the champion, especially after suffering a hand injury following his recent encounters with Buddy Matthews and the rest of the House of Black.
At today’s NJPW Collision In Philadelphia show, Cassidy defended the title against Gabriel Kidd.
Orange’s hand injury was the focus of the bout with Kidd using his submission expertise to try to wrestle his way to his first singles title.
However, Cassidy once again proved himself to be crafty and found a way to win by using the Mouse Trap to defeat Kidd and mark his record 19th successful title defense.
Following the bout, Gabriel Kidd showed his respect to Orange Cassidy by handing him the AEW International Championship, while OC gifted Kidd his signature sunglasses.
