The rather interesting original plan in AEW for ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson has been revealed by one of the promotion’s stars in a recent interview.
Sammy Guevara was the guest on the latest AEW Unrestricted podcast, during which he said a plan called for Mike Tyson to knock him out.
He explained:
“The original plan was for Mike Tyson to knock me out which I was all for. I remember people were coming up to me and saying, just don’t move, you’ll be fine. I wasn’t scared at all. I thought even if he hits me and I wake up in a hospital, it’s going to be a hell of a moment. What a story. Hey, Mike Tyson knocked me out. Who can say that? I don’t know who really wants to say that, but if I’m going to get knocked out, what a guy to get knocked out by. They ended up changing it. I remember being in the ring. There was him and Henry Cejudo and thinking this is wild. We did the Double or Nothing and now we are in the ring with Mike Tyson. This is nuts.”
Unfortunately, as of yet, the Inner Circle/Mike Tyson segment hasn’t been followed up on, likely due to Tyson scheduling an upcoming fight.
You’d have to imagine AEW is keen to get him to come back and continue his rivalry with Chris Jericho in some form.
