Impact Wrestling created a lot of buzz after their Slammiversary show last Saturday (July 17), when NJPW star Jay White came to the ring to confront the Impact World Champion Kenny Omega.
The moment almost didn’t happen, as it was not the original planned ending to the show, per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer.
Meltzer said that Omega didn’t know about White’s appearance until he arrived in Nashville for the show, and states that the original planned ending saw Andrade El Idolo in White’s spot.
The reason why Andrade was not used was because he and Impact could not come to financial terms, but the plan was to do a six-man tag team match with Andrade, who would have Konnan in his corner, teaming with two partners against Omega and the Good Brothers.
Andrade and Omega are scheduled to face each other for Omega’s AAA Mega Championship at the upcoming AAA Triplemania XXIX event on August 14.
