Backstage details have emerged on the original plan for Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods & Big E of the New Day at WrestleMania 38.
On last night’s (March 11) episode of SmackDown, Sheamus & Ridge Holland defeated Big E & Kofi Kingston, following interference from Pete Dunne, now known as ‘Butch’. After being stretchered out of the arena, Big E has confirmed that he suffered a broken neck during the match.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), the plan prior to the episode was to have The New Day face off against Sheamus, Holland & Butch at WrestleMania 38. The report noted that it is unclear how these plans will be altered following Big E’s injury.
The report also revealed the backstage reaction to Pete Dunne’s name change, which you can read more about at this link.
