On the go-home episode of Raw before WrestleMania 35 last night, Seth Rollins delivered two low-blows to Brock Lesnar, before hitting the former UFC star with a curb stomp and posing with his Universal Championship. However, Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that this was not the original plan for the segment.
Meltzer is reporting that the segment was originally supposed to happen in reverse, with Lesnar getting the better of the exchange instead of Rollins. However, Vince McMahon opted to have Seth prevail over Brock, and emphatically deliver a Curb Stomp.
This could turn out to be significant, WWE tends to have whoever is on the receiving end of an attack on the go-home show before the pay-per-view win at the big event. Taking this into account, some have speculated that Lesnar could be walking out of MetLife Stadium still as the Universal Champion.
However, as Vince McMahon made the decision to switch the roles around late in the day before Raw started, this could have just been him wanting Rollins to have more momentum going into the “show of shows”.
