AEW star Jade Cargill has established herself as a top heel in the women’s division, but the original plan was very different.
Appearing on Talk Is Jericho, the current TBS Champion spoke about the original plans for her debut in All Elite Wrestling.
When speaking about the day of her debut, Cargill revealed:
“I was actually being groomed to be a babyface.
“So when they legit popped it on me like the day of, ‘you’re going through the heel tunnel,’ I was like, ‘what, huh? You’re telling me I am a heel? Okay, alright, let me look into this more.’ It was shocking, I had a whole come back.”
The AEW star debuted on the November 14, 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite to confront Cody Rhodes.
This set up her in-ring debut, teaming up with NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal to defeat Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet on the March 3, 2021 episode of Dynamite.
Jade Cargill has adapted very well to her role and made history as the first ever TBS Champion in AEW history.
