Original Plans For NXT 2.0 Index Storyline Revealed WWE

NXT creative was left in a bit of a pickle following WWE’s most recent set of releases, as 10 names from the NXT roster were cut, including Dexter Lumis and Persia Pirotta.

Lumis and Pirotta’s releases were surprising, as the pair were involved in a storyline on the show alongside Indi Hartwell and Duke Hudson, which had to end abruptly.

Fightful Select (subscription required) has now provided an update on the plans for the ending of the story. MCW ran an angle before Indi’s departure from Australia for WWE which saw Steph De Lander (Persia Pirotta) turn on Indi.

Pirotta told Fightful that was the plan to play out on NXT TV too, after she pitched the angle and it was well received.

Steph said that the basis was to be that the two were best friends in Australia, and Indi left her behind to chase her fame. De Lander says that as things clicked with her and Indi in NXT, Duke Hudson and Dexter Lumis were added and things went well from there. However, she believes that the plan was to circle back and eventually turn on Indi Hartwell. She believes this would have actually enhanced the story.

Hudson and Hartwell took part in a brief segment on the NXT Spring Breakin’ show addressing Lumis and Pirotta’s departure, which she has since reacted to.

De Lander also discussed her reaction to her WWE release in the interview with Fightful.
