Revealed: Original WrestleMania 35 Plans For Daniel Bryan

Following Daniel Bryan’s shock WWE Championship win and heel turn on this past week’s episode of SmackDown Live, speculation has been rampant about how long this was planned, or whether it was always the plan. More news has come to light which may shed some light on the situation.

Recently in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was revealed that the original plans for the now-WWE Champion at WrestleMania 35 were to have him face off against SmackDown Live Commissioner and Best Wrestler In The World, Shane McMahon.

There’s been some heavy teases for Bryan vs McMahon in recent times, but it’s being reported that it is no longer a direction WWE is interested in heading.

It was also reported recently that Shane McMahon’s World Cup win at Crown Jewel, which, lest we forget, crowned him The Best Wrestler In The World, was originally booked in order to begin a gradual heel turn. This was confirmed as well in the Newsletter, as the heel turn was supposed to build to a McMahon/Bryan feud leading into WrestleMania 35. However, since Bryan has now turned heel, McMahon’s heel turn may be off the cards too.

The planned matches for WrestleMania 35 seem to be changing frequently, with Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch the most likely top match at this point. Batista vs Triple H, Bryan vs McMahon (The Best Wrestler In The World), and Rousey vs Charlotte Flair were all pencilled in at one point, however they all now seem unlikely or scrapped entirely.

It’s not been revealed how long WWE plan on keeping the WWE Championship on Daniel Bryan, or who he will be feuding with moving forwards, however AJ Styles does still have his rematch yet to be announced.
