Original plans for Aleister Black and Zelina Vega on WWE TV have been revealed after their recently formed partnership.
Black and Vega, who have been married since 2018, recently formed a partnership on WWE TV for the first time, with Zelina dropping her surname.
Aleister Black has now revealed that there were actually plans for them to partner up back in 2020, before Black was released from the company in 2021.
On the Cody Tucker Show, he said:
“I’m a pretty cynical guy nowadays and I see on the internet how human nature is developing in this hateful manner. So now it becomes about people already being corrupted, so now I’m gonna corrupt people more, because now my prerogative becomes kinda like a reflection of how society is.
“A lot of my stuff over the past eight, nine, maybe 10 years – maybe if I’m really honest, a little longer even – has become a little bit of social commentary with how I see human nature developing within these confines of social media and how they treat each other, and how the real spirit of human nature comes forward, and how destructive we actually are.
“So this thing would become more about, ‘I want you to be this hateful because that’s who you really are. I will make you better. I will corrupt you, but it’s not really corrupting because it’s just who you really are.’
“When I had the platform, that was something we were supposed to do back in 2020 right before my first release. I had this whole Dark Father thing set up, which was gonna lean a lot more into that. Obviously I got released.
“We actually filmed some vignettes with my wife, because she was gonna join that thing too, and then obviously I got released.”

After Black was released by WWE in 2021, he joined AEW where he worked for four years before returning to WWE a few months ago.
Black briefly commented on his initial feud with Cody Rhodes upon joining AEW off the back of his first WWE run, adding:
“Once I went over to the other company and I had the chance to do that, the first person I wanted to do it with was Cody, so I explained the idea, and he was like, ‘That’s f**king great, let’s do that. Let’s get to the point where you make me do things, or it’s no longer about putting my shoulders on the mat, it’s about me making you do all these things.’
“And at the end of it, obviously, as any story is, the good guy eventually beats the bad guy, but then the last thing became about, ‘Well, I made you do this, I made you do that. I made you do all these things. Did you really think this was about putting my shoulders on the mat?’ And then it would affect him for a longer time.”
