The overnight viewership for last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, which featured two titles matches, a title change and the first night of the WWE Draft has been revealed, thanks to ShowBuzz Daily.
The site is reporting that last night’s heavily promoted blockbuster episode of Friday Night SmackDown drew an average of 2.086 million viewers, scoring a 0.6 in the all-important 18-49 age demographic.
- Hour One – 2.156 million
- Hour Two – 2.017 million
This is just up from the 2.042 million figure that last week’s show brought in, which was the first episode from the blue brand following the well-received Clash of Champions pay-per-view event.
This might appear to be somewhat disappointing for WWE, with an average of only 44,000 more people watching the special Draft episode of Friday Night SmackDown compared to last week’s show.
However, Carlos Toro of Fightful has noted that the second hour of last night’s broadcast went head-to-head with Game 5 of the NBA Finals. For context, the first hour of that game brought in 5.301 million according to the overnight viewership.
WWE #SmackDown averaged 2.086 million viewers (and a 0.6 rating in 18-49) last night in the overnight for the 2020 #WWEDraft, up from last week's 2.042 million. Hour 2 of the show was against Game 5 of the NBA Finals, whose first hour drew 5.301 million viewers in the overnight.

WWE will be hoping for more viewers next week, as the company is promoting next week’s SmackDown as the show’s “Season Premiere”. The show will feature a Universal Championship defence from Roman Reigns, and the final New Day match before they go their separate ways.
