Paige has recalled fighting for a spot to be included in her match at NXT ArRIVAL in 2014.
Eight years ago today (February 27), Paige defended her NXT Women’s Championship against Tenille Dashwood (Emma). The match received a lot of praise at the time for showcasing women’s wrestling in WWE before the ‘Divas Revolution’ in 2015.
Paige has taken to Twitter to reveal that she and Dashwood had to fight to keep a top rope spot that finished with a powerbomb. Praising Triple H for his support, Paige noted:
“You have no idea how much we had to fight for a power bomb off the top rope. Luckily @TripleH trusted us enough. Because it was a time where women had to ‘fight like women’. It still wasn’t a full power bomb off top had to walk out first but it was a compromise “
Paige hasn’t wrestled since the December 2017 Madison Square Garden WWE house show. The English star was forced to retire from wrestling in early 2018 due to a severe neck injury.
Per WrestlingNews.co, Paige was medically cleared for in-ring action ahead of last month’s Royal Rumble event. Her current WWE deal is set to expire in June 2022.
