Recent AEW Signing Has ‘Disappeared From All Talk’ AEW

A recent AEW signing has ‘disappeared from all talk’  despite showing promise during training.

Former UFC star Paige VanZant publicly signed her AEW contract on Dynamite earlier this year, before she made her wrestling debut back at the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

Since then, we have not seen Paige on AEW television, and she has now reportedly disappeared from all talk, per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

He wrote:

Paige VanZant, who has disappeared from all talk, was a subject asked about to her wrestling trainer, David “Gangrel” Heath. He said, “Yes, I did (train her) for a little while there. She did well. She didn’t train as much as I would have liked for her to train, but I haven’t seen her since that match. She did that match, she wrote me and said, ‘Hey, I’d like to go over the match with you and some critique.’ And I said, ‘Sure,’ and that’s the last I heard from her. She’s an athlete. She could have been really, really good at it actually.”

The match Gangrel seems to be referring to was at AEW Double or Nothing on May 29, 2022, which saw Paige VanZant in a mixed trios match with Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky, defeating Sammy Guevara, Tay Melo and Frankie Kazarian.

VanZant signed with AEW in March this year but has not competed since her match at Double or Nothing.

Paige VanZant’s background as a bare-knuckle boxer and an MMA fighter, and Gangrel’s comments, suggest she may have what it takes to make it in AEW.

VanZant was billed to return to the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship at BKFC 27 on August 20 in a match against Charis Sigala.

She was however pulled from the event for reasons that Paige VanZant described as being ‘out of her control’ in an Instagram post.

Previously there were reports that the match would be rescheduled for a later date, but this has not materialized.

WrestleTalk will report any developments on potential future appearances for VanZant at AEW as they emerge.
