Pat McAfee Training Update Ahead Of Gunther WWE Backlash Match WWE

Pat McAfee has provided an update on his training for his upcoming match with Gunther at the WWE Backlash event.

Former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther was suspended indefinitely by Raw General Manager Adam Pearce following his defeat to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41.

Gunther would come to the ring on the Raw after WrestleMania, where he put his hands on both Michael Cole and Pat McAfee, choking out McAfee with a sleeper hold.

On this week’s Raw, McAfee responded to Gunther’s attack, challenging him to a match, which Nick Aldis then made official for the WWE Backlash premium live event in St Louis next weekend.

This will be McAfee’s first official match since his impromptu victory over The Miz at WrestleMania 39, and he has now provided an update on his training.

On the Pat McAfee Show, Pat showed off his wrestling ring that he bought years ago, noting that he feels good ahead of the match, and that his cardio is ‘better than it has been before’.

He said:

“I’ve already been doing some flips, I’ve already done some bumps, I’m already feeling pretty good. Cardio is in a spot I think is better than it has been before”

WWE Backlash will also feature a WWE Championship clash between John Cena and Randy Orton, being dubbed ‘one last time’ ahead of Cena’s retirement in December.
