Paul Heyman returned to the home of his beloved ECW in Philadelphia last night as he made a surprise appearance at Evolve’s 10th Anniversary show on the WWE Network, as did former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano.
Heyman ring announced the match between JD Drake and Austin Theory to unify the WWN and Evolve Championships.
Heyman said that he wanted to ring announce this match as in years’ time, this will be what we look at when we realise “that was the moment we all knew this industry is going to Evolve”.
Drake came out on top with the Ataxia, but Josh Briggs came out and gave him a chokeslam before posing with the Evolve Championship, staking his claim as the next challenger.
Gargano made his presence known in the main event NXT Championship match between Adam Cole and Akira Tozawa.
He tried to distract Cole and cost him the title multiple times, but it wasn’t enough as the Undisputed Era man nailed a Last Shot for the win in a great match.
