Paul Heyman Tells Big E If He Leaves New Day Behind He Will Be Successful

On the latest edition of Talking Smack, Paul Heyman and Big E had a verbal exchange. In a moment of genuine advice, Paul Heyman told Big E if he accepts the New Day is merely a footnote in his career, the world is his.

This comes in the midst of fans hoping for a Big E singles push. With the Royal Rumble around the corner, it is not impossible that Big E becomes a main eventer very quickly. Here is Heyman’s quote, courtesy of Fightful:

“This Big E, a focused Big E, a singles championship-minded Big E has so much potential that ten years from now, as your story is being written, they will all say that the accomplishments that you did with The New Day pale by respectful comparison to the accomplishments that you will pull off on your own and I say that to you with the following [caveat], what you’re going to accomplish in the next ten years will be mind-boggling, sir.

I’m looking forward to seeing it as is everybody else, but you have to accept in your heart that The New Day will only be a footnote in the story of the greatness of Big E and if I may prove my case to you, I ask you a rhetorical question, when was the last time you saw Roman Reigns in the ring, and anybody even bothered to mention The Shield?”

Talk about an excellent point to close out a statement. To Heyman’s credit, Roman Reigns has risen to a level where they no longer bring up the Shield when talking about him. A few years ago, that was not the case.

Big E and the New Day had been a faction since 2014 until they went their separate ways in the WWE Draft. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were drafted to Raw while Big E remained on SmackDown.
