Paul Heyman is known as one of the most competitive bookers in pro-wrestling history and being the leader of WWE Raw was no different.
Heyman was appointed as the executive director of Raw in June 2019 with Eric Bischoff his SmackDown counterpart. It took only a few months for Bischoff to be removed from the role and replaced by Bruce Prichard.
Fast forward to June 2020, and Heyman was removed from his position and Prichard now works across both brands.
Fightful Select (subscription required and recommended) reports that Heyman took the Raw vs SmackDown rivalry seriously and applied this competitiveness to the show itself.
He was also said to be very proud of young talent such as Apollo Crews, Austin Theory and Angel Garza who he was a big fan of despite them never being pushed before he had influence on the show’s creative.
It was specifically noted that Paul Heyman went to “great lengths” to secure having Murphy as part of the Raw roster, and, as is common knowledge by now, was very keen on building a better future for the brand.
