The Peacock partnership with WWE seems to have paid off according to Peacock’s new president.
In a new interview with Vulture, Peacock’s new President, Kelly Campbell had positive things to say about the streaming platform’s partnership with WWE.
When asked about the platform acquiring WWE network content which became available on Peacock, Campbell said:
“WWE has been an incredibly successful partnership for Peacock since launch. We invested in an incredible fan base that provides us the opportunity to bring those fans back time and time again with the massive live events that are part of the WWE franchise. We have WrestleMania, in fact, returning on April 3. This is already one of our biggest live events of the year. And we have an original series that I’m super-excited about featuring John Cena coming later this year called WWE Evil that I think will bring a fun new take on the space for this audience.”
Referencing the Cena helmed WWE Evil as a series to look forward to, it has previously been reported that WWE Evil will be a docuseries style original produced and narrated by John Cena. Taking a psychological look at some of WWE’s biggest heels throughout history, the series is set to feature interviews with infamous wrestling baddies.
WWE’s most high-profile event of the year, WrestleMania will take place over two nights in 2022 making WrestleMania 38, the third time in history to follow the two-night format.
Already announced for WrestleMania Saturday include Charlotte Flair defending her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch defending her WWE Women’s Champtionship against Bianca Belair and the celebrity match-up of The Miz and Logan Paul versus The Mysterios.
WrestleMania Sunday is currently slated to host a WWE Championship title versus WWE Universal Championship title unification match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.
