People Close To Cody Rhodes Say He Could Back Out Of WrestleMania 38 AEW

It seems like there is still some uncertainty regarding Cody Rhodes showing up at WrestleMania 38.

The former AEW star is expected to be revealed as Vince McMahon’s chosen opponent for Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38 following his departure from All Elite Wrestling last month.

Appearing with Denise Salcedo, Dave Meltzer was asked what he believes the reaction would be if WWE swerved the fans and had someone else face Rollins at Mania.

Meltzer answered:

“Depending on who it is, it better be somebody good because…everyone expects it and they kind of have to deliver it I suppose. If it’s not him, it’s his choosing, it’s not theirs. They believe it’s him. They believe that’s the guy. If for whatever reason he backs out because he’s going to back out, I don’t expect that to happen, but I know people close to him who do so what the hell. We’ll have to see how it plays out.”

Cody Rhodes left All Elite Wrestling on February 15 following the two sides being unable to reach terms on a new agreement after his contract expired at the end of 2021.

Seth Rollins will face an opponent of Vince McMahon’s choosing at WrestleMania 38 on April 2.
