Pete Dunne’s opponent for his return to Attack! Pro Wrestling has been revealed as WWE tryout prospect Leon Cage.

The June 19 show marks the first time that Pete Dunne will step into the Attack! Pro Wrestling ring since 2018, with Dunne having signed with WWE the previous year.

With the upcoming independent wrestling show being named “Can You Feel My Heart”, a nod to Dunne’s pre-WWE theme by Bring Me The Horizon, his opponent was confirmed to be Leon Cage.

Attack! Pro Wrestling announced this in a post on Twitter reading:

“On Friday 19th June, THE BRUISERWEIGHT returns to ATTACK! Pro Wrestling, and he will go up against one of the fastest rising stars in the UK…

Opportunity Knocks For Leon Cage

A former WWE United Kingdom Champion, Pete Dunne has seen his success translate to the United States, being a former NXT Tag Team Champion before heading to the main roster as one-third of The Brawling Brutes, renamed Butch, before returning to his more familiar name alongside Tyler Bate as New Catch Republic.

For Dunne, his value to WWE has translated into a backstage role that has seen him as a producer, with a previous report noting that he is involved in AAA. On screen, he has continued to demonstrate his versatility, currently performing as Rayo Americano alongside Bate’s Bravo, as Los Americanos.

While WWE fans may not have seen Dunne as Dunne since May of last year, he has returned to the independent scene on occasion, last competing at GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XV with a victory over Masashi Takeda over WrestleMania 42 week in Las Vegas.

For Leon Cage, a match against a veteran star of the calibre of Dunne is quite the opportunity. Just 19 years old, Cage is recognized for his future star potential, no doubt enhanced by his recent involvement in a WWE tryout. Just four years into his independent wrestling career, Cage is making waves in matches that have taken him beyond his native Wales, exposing him to a larger audience.

Cage himself is aware of the importance of a match against Pete Dunne, a star noted for both his in-ring technical ability and the wrestling mind forged over a near twenty-year career, sharing a post on Twitter that reads:

“Words can’t describe how wild this is.

“An experience I’ll never forget. Time to show the world what I can do.”

Regardless of the outcome of the match itself, there’s no doubt that Cage will demonstrate a confidence that belies his years and benefit from the opportunity to share the ring with Dunne.
