A brutal opening match on tonight’s AEW Dynamite (April 12) as one of the ‘pillars’ of AEW took on a big opponent.
To kick off AEW Dynamite, the Mogul Affiliates’ Swerve Strickland took on Darby Allin as their well known rivalry in the Pacific Northwest spilled over into AEW.
In a brutal and hard hitting match, Strickland showed off a continued violent streak as he remains a captivating heel not only on television but in independent circuit appearances as well.
This past weekend, Strickland lost the DEFY Championship against known Darby Allin pal and AEW signee, Nick Wayne.
After a seriously violent battle between the two, Darby Allin came out on top besting Strickland but the celebration was shortlived as he was then joined on stage by a formidable foe.
Allin is now the third ‘pillar’ to win on recent weeks on Dynamite after Jack Perry and Sammy Guevara, with all three of them targeting AEW World Champion MJF.
MJF then appeared with microphone in hand to address Allin and the crowd.
Before tonight’s show hit the air, word broke that there was several big names backstage at tonight’s AEW Dynamite including one that hasn’t been seen in the company for months. Click here to find out who was spotted.
