An update has emerged regarding WWE’s plans for Raw and SmackDown on the week of Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales.
Clash at the Castle takes place on Saturday, September 3, which means the SmackDown prior and Raw after it are pretty close, so many UK fans had been hoping this meant those TV shows might have been held in the UK as well.
It sounds like bad news, as talkSPORT’s Alex McCarthy reported on ITR’s Monday Night Live that he’s heard the plan is for the September 2 SmackDown to be pre-taped in the US before the WWE roster travels to the UK, and they’ll already have travelled back to the US in time to do the September 5 Raw live over there instead of staying in the UK to do it.
He did say there were plans for shows of some form on the Friday and Sunday, but he doesn’t know what they are, although he did suggest they could be NXT or NXT UK related.
WWE still has Money in the Bank (July 2) and SummerSlam (July 30) before Clash at the Castle, but it seems like the main event is already in place as Drew McIntyre has called out Roman Reigns for a shot at the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
The show is expected to do the largest non-WrestleMania gate in pro-wrestling history, and to actually beat most WrestleManias.
