A planned match for the August 30 WWE Payback pay-per-view just seven days after tonight’s SummerSlam event has been revealed.
Over the last several weeks on SmackDown, including this past Friday, it looked like WWE had been building to a King Corbin vs Matt Riddle match for SummerSlam.
According to Fightful Select, there is no Corbin vs Riddle match planned for SummerSlam, but tentative plans called for it to take place at Payback instead.
Of course, plans can always change, but if you were wondering why there was no Corbin vs Riddle on tonight’s card that would certainly be a logical explanation.
The only match WWE has officially confirmed for Payback thus far is Bayley & Sasha Banks defending the Women’s Tag Team Championship, but their opponents haven’t been announced yet.
WrestleTalk.com will of course have live coverage of both pay-per-views starting with SummerSlam tonight.
